Driftwood is a great place for those who want to live in the country but work and play in the city.  Located conveniently between Austin, Wimberley and Dripping Springs the area know as Driftwood spreads far and wide with one end just south and west of Austin to west and north of Wimberley and south of Dripping Springs. Do not come here looking for Walmarts and Home Depots as Driftwood has nothing in the way of mega marts and shopping centers..however it is located conveniently so that a short drive in any direction will find all the modern conveniences that a person desires.

There are three great restaurants located in Driftwood. For barbecue lovers, the world-famous Salt Lick has graced Driftwood since the early '70s. The beautiful restaurant and vineyards Trattoria Lisina will satisfy your cravings for Italian and the fairly new Hays City Store is a huge hit with Wimberley and Austin residents.
There is a great new brewery (Victory  Brewing) as well as Driftwood  Vineyard for wine lovers.

To explore Driftwood head out on Mopac (Loop 1) from Austin until it becomes 45W and follow it until it dead-ends at RR 1826. Head west past the Salt Lick and take a left on RR 150 and you will soon reach the old Texaco station..you are now in the heart of Driftwood. There are several subdivisions that makeup Driftwood including La Ventana to the north (upscale country) and Sierra West (country) to the west. Most of Driftwood falls into the highly acclaimed Wimberley ISD or Dripping Springs ISD.
