Known to the rest of Texas for our state championship volleyball and football programs we are also a town blessed with great academics. Wimberely high school boasts a theater department which finds itself in the state finals most every year as well as hosting the only high school accredited Shakespeare theater in the U.S. Here in Wimberley high school students from throughout the state, perform in Shakespeare Under the Stars during the summer, and learn acting, set building, wardrobe production and everything in between. Wimberley is a fun place to liveThere are rivers to float, creeks to swim and hills to hike and truly unique places like Susanna's Kitchen where locals go to watch musicians such as Allejandro Escovedo, Ray Wylie Hubbard,The Gourds and Ruthie Foster perform in a smoke and alcohol free environment, upfront and intimate at the Wimberley United Methodist Church. Our kids swim in local water holes like the infamous Blue Hole, located on Cypress Creek and now a city park. Jacob's Well is another favorite and when blessed with abundant rain, floating the Blanco is a local pastime. On summer nights, around dusk, we head to the Corral Theater to sit under the stars and watch a movie, bringing our favorite lawn chair and beverage of choice. For golf enthusiasts Wimberley offers the Quicksand golf course which rambles through the Woodcreek community. On the first Saturday of every month (except Jan. and Feb.) is Wimberley Market Days where hundreds of vendors sell their wares at an outdoor market.
